CHICAGO — An investigation is underway this week after two unsupervised toddlers were found in an apartment on the Near North Side late Wednesday night.

Chicago police said officers were called to the apartment complex, located in the 500 block of West Oak Street, just before 12 a.m. for a wellbeing call. When they arrived, however, they located two unsupervised children, a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old.

Officers said the children were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but they had no apparent injuries.

Officers have not provided details on where the children’s parents were.

An investigation into the incident is now underway.
