Registration opens for Warren Co. high school job fairs

WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Registration has opened for five upcoming Warren County school job fairs, which will be held at four local school districts. Starting in March and concluding at the end of April, different businesses in the county will help high school students seeking summer employment for the fifth year.

County officials said the business location and number of open positions for high school students help them determine the right businesses for the fairs. The county is seeking good work for students ages 14 to 18.

Thanks to increased tourism, the job fairs have helped hundreds find summer employment opportunities during one of Warren County’s busiest times of the year. Any local businesses interested in participating in the fairs can fill out an interest form online, which will begin the registration process.

There are separate online forms based on the fairs’ locations, grouping Glens Falls and Queensbury in one form, along with Johnsburg and North Warren. Warren County Director of Workforce Development Liza Ochsendorf said they are excited to expand the job fairs and one career day into the north county.

“We want students everywhere aged 14 and up to know that there are local opportunities for them to learn some new skills, earn a paycheck, support their communities, and contribute to a thriving economy,” Ochsendorf said. “If they start working between 14-17 years old, they will have so many more skills than their peers who don’t start until adulthood, and we have a better chance of keeping these young people local when they become adults.”

Below are the job fair dates, and any businesses that attend the job fairs must complete a 30-minute virtual orientation to understand what to expect at the job fair and success in recruiting teens.
