A 9-year-old boy died early Monday morning after he was struck by the driver of a semitrailer while trying to cross U.S. 50 near Pueblo, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The boy was attempting to cross the highway from the Oakwood Estates Mobile Home Park at around 5:27 a.m. — before sunrise — when he was hit by a driver traveling westbound near milepost 323.
The boy died at the scene, state patrol officials said in a news release Monday. The truck driver, who is from the Pueblo area, stayed at the scene after the crash.
No charges have been filed against the truck driver and the crash is under investigation.
