Claims have recently been circulating that, one crew stole from a new big-shot dealer sparking the “gang war.”
An Edinburgh home shot at during the night allegedly belongs to an associate of feared kingpin Mark Richardson amid an escalating gang war.
Police were called to the city’s Niddrie Marischal Crescent during the early hours of Thursday morning, March 20, following reports of a “firearm possibly being discharged.”
It has since been claimed the home of one of Richardson’s crew was targeted during the incident in what is the latest ‘reprisal attack’ in response to an underworld heist, Edinburgh Live was told.
Claims have recently been circulating that, Richardson’s crew stole from a new big-shot dealer who has allegedly been “flooding the city with cocaine for the past year” sparking the “gang war.”
In response, several businesses whose owners have previously been linked to Richardson have been targeted in firebomb attacks, including The Belle Cheveux beauty salon on Albert Street, a storage warehouse in Musselburgh and a garage on Milton Road East.
Edinburgh Live also reported seeing footage of a car being torched on the driveway of a family home, understood to be in Niddrie, which has witnessed much of the trouble.
On Thursday, a source spoke out on the latest incident claiming it involved an associate of Richardson as the gangland feud rages on in the capital.
The source, speaking anonymously, said: “The house was shot at during the night by the people Richardson’s crew stole from. It’s getting out of control now as he has kids in there.
“They’ve basically said they don’t care if kids get hurt now, that’s how far they’re willing to go. It’s all linked to the fire at the salon in Leith and the two recently in Musselburgh and Milton Road as there is a new guy on the scene.
“I’m surprised this person was targeted though as he’s not one of Richardson’s main guys. What happened isn’t right, he has kids.”
Police have locked down the street and detectives have been spotted going door-to-door. A forensic officer also arrived and started photographing the crime scene while wearing a mask.
Feared mob boss Richardson was jailed for eight years and nine months in 2018 for possessing a loaded Glock handgun. He was one of nine men jailed for a total of almost 90 years for his role in drugs and arms plots.
A second source previously said: “Everyone’s speaking about what’s going on in the area. Lots of normal people are scared about getting caught up in it all.
“They’re scary people and I’ve heard a few of their families have moved away from here. It’s left a lot of people questioning why. And wondering if it’s going to kick off. People from here are quiet people and are worried they’ll be affected.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.05am on Thursday, 20 March, 2025, we received a report of a firearm possibly being discharged in the Niddrie Marischal Crescent area of Edinburgh. There were no reported injuries.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident. There is no risk to the wider public and officers remain in attendance. Anyone with any concerns can approach these officers.”
