A serious road traffic collision occurred early this morning (Saturday, November 30) involving two vehicles on a residential street in Hartlepool. 

The crash was reported at 00.33 am, prompting an immediate response from local emergency services.

Two fire engines, police and the ambulance service were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation, with the road closed as the emergency services worked.

Firefighters discovered significant damage to both vehicles and found one individual trapped inside.

They extricated the person, who was then handed over to paramedics for urgent medical care.

There were three other casualties in the crash.

The fire brigade undertook safety measures to secure the road, ensuring that the vehicles were made safe. 

The incident was officially concluded at 2.08 am, more than an hour and a half after the initial call was received. 

A spokesperson for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: “Road traffic collision involving 2 vehicles. 1 person extricated by fire brigade then handed over to ambulance. 3 further casualties. Fire brigade made vehicles and road safe.”
