Man dies in grain silo incident at Lowell, Indiana farm

LOWELL, Ind. – A man died in a grain silo incident while working on a farm in Lowell.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department said the incident happened at a farm in the 2200 block of West 203rd Avenue.

The preliminary investigation revealed the man had been working with soybeans inside the silo. After about 20 minutes, he could not be found, according to investigators.

The sheriff’s department said personnel from fire departments in Crown Point, Hebron and Lowell arrived and cut through the side of the silo to reach the man who was later pronounced dead.

No other information was released.
