Teenage victim of stabbing named as murder investigation continues

Tawana Choruma, 19, was found injured on Station Road just before 6.30pm.

He had been stabbed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Specialist officers are working with the victim’s family while forensics scour a mid-terraced house, on Linden Road in Southampton, which they have been searching for two days.

The news comes as Hampshire Constabulary asks residents in Netley to check their bins for evidence which may have been discarded.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We are specifically keen to locate a mobile phone which may have been dumped nearby.

“If you find something, please contact us immediately on 101 with reference 44240550396.”

Three more people were arrested by police in connection with the murder probe on Saturday.

In total, two 18-year-old men from Southampton have been arrested on suspicion of murder, and an 18-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of murder and acquiring/using/possessing stolen property.

A 36-year-old woman from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, no further action has been taken for this offence.  

The woman was also arrested for possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. She has been released on conditional bail.

A 15-year-old boy from Netley, who was previously arrested in connection with the incident, has since been released from custody and no further action taken against him.
