Stubley’s Furniture in Shropshire has been spotted with closing down sale signs.

The owner of the Church Street enterprise, Mark Stubley, took to social media to thank customers for their loyal support over the past decades.

He wrote: “The time has come to close our doors. Owning the business and working here in Wellington has always been an absolute privilege, but now is the time for retirement.

“I would like to thank you all for your loyalty, support and custom over the years. It has really been appreciated.

“Please be assured that the commitment to providing you with the best service is still our absolute priority. Do call in to “Stubley’s” and see our stock for a bargain!

“With my very best wishes, Mark Stubley.”

Another post has revealed that the reduction includes all beds and headboards.

Many took to the comments section to express their despair over the store’s closure.

One person said: “I was in last week, going to be a sad loss.”

Another put: “Mark always used to knock a couple of quid off my secondhand furniture purchases.

“In 1989, he had a dark wood wardrobe for £12, haggled him down to £10.50 that’s over 10% mark, you must’ve been slacking that day. All the best for the future mate.”

Others wished Mark a long and happy retirement.

It is not clear what the building will become after the shutters are rolled down one last time.

However, the site has been listed by Halls Commercial for over £179,000.

The listing reveals the property comes with car parking and has over 200 metres in square footage.

Currently a retail showroom, the use of the building could be changed.

Set in the town centre of Wellington, the attached part two and part single storey property is close to all amenities.
