SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A growing Filipino brunch spot in San Francisco’s Mission District has abruptly closed. Alnico simply out on its Instagram bio: “closed.” “Thank you for all your support 🙏💜”
KRON4 went to the restaurant Wednesday and saw its windows shuttered and many chairs folded up. No signage was posted on the door announcing its official closure, but Alnico’s Instagram says it is closed for good. Yelp says it is temporarily closed and is scheduled to reopen Jan. 23, 2026.
The restaurant, located at 1050 Valencia St., serves Filipino breakfast “with an influence on American brunch.” Alnico opened in 2021.
Alnico did not announce the reason for its closure. However, the restaurant was reportedly victimized by a series of recent break-ins.
Last week, The San Francisco Standard reported Alnico could possibly close after its third break-in in a six-week span. Alnico ownership told The Standard — before the three aforementioned incidents — break-ins would happen roughly every six months. The outlet also reported that Alnico staff would often clean human waste outside the restaurant.
Since opening during the COVID-19 pandemic, Alnico has risen in popularity in the few years it was operating. Alnico has almost 7,900 Instagram followers and a 4.2 Yelp rating from more than 900 reviews. One food influencer, who goes by the Instagram handle @nomtasticfoods, dubbed Alnico as one of “the Asian fusion brunch spot you need to try.”
Alnico has not responded to multiple inquiries from KRON4. We emailed and left a voicemail but did not hear back.
