NEW ORLEANS (WDAF) — It’s inevitable. Happy couples with so much in common. Until their NFL teams meet in the Super Bowl. In this case, for a second time!

For Jaime and Dave Dailey, a suburban Philadelphia couple, it’s a house divided.

Life can be funny sometimes. As in when a southwest Kansas guy meets a south Jersey girl. Him: A Marine veteran who landed near Philly in law enforcement, eventually becoming a small town police chief. She was a daughter raised on Philadelphia sports.

After dating for a while, Jaime learned of Dave’s Kansas City Chiefs fandom.

“I was like, ‘Oh, this is going to be difficult,” she said.

Difficult, but not a deal killer. Dave and Jaime exchanged vows in 2023, without benefits of a “fan duel” prenup.

“This is who I am, I knew who she was,” he said.

In spite of this, they love sports — even if it means wearing different team colors. But Super Bowls take it to a whole new level.

Two years ago, Jaime and Dave hosted a Super Bowl watch party at their suburban Philly home.

Though outnumbered, Dave, would eventually earn bragging rights when the Chiefs came from behind to win.

“He was pretty good. I mean, he did play the Chiefs song and that’s pretty much when everybody left the house,” Jaime said. “Cause we didn’t want to hear it and I was like, ‘I’m going to bed, like very cold.'”

But as they say, love conquers all.

Jaime even donned Chiefs gear when they took in last year’s Super Bowl parade in Kansas City. But make no mistake. In this rematch, their respective jerseys are back on.

And in New Orleans, where they’re taking in the Super Bowl pageantry, the family smack talk lives on.

“He’s going to be sleeping in the air room,” she said. “You guys can all be sad together. We’re taking the trophy home to Philly and he’s going to be on that plane.”

The house divided Daileys actually booked this trip in April, hoping at least one team would be here.

They don’t have tickets but will find a place to watch.
