As a popstar, Dua Lipa needs no introduction.
If her 2021 collaboration with Elton John didn’t secure her megastar status then her headliner slot at Glastonbury this summer proved the English-Albanian songstress was now a global sensation.
But despite her extraordinary success in the music industry, the One Kiss singer has also made her mark as a… drinks pioneer.
The 29-year-old caused a stir earlier this month when seh shared a video on TikTok that showed her preparing her special Diet Coke recipe.
Dua took a glass filled with ice and poured Diet Coke into it, before adding pickle juice, a couple pickles, jalapeno juice and jalapenos, before declaring ‘that is mmm’.
Online verdicts ranged from ‘this is the most evil thing’ to ‘this is everything I could ask for’.
Here, MailOnline tries it out themselves.
Taking to TikTok to share the strange combination she began: ‘Step one, diet coke and then pickle juice, then a couple of pickles’

‘It smells suspicious’
Stella Radeva, UK Video Journalist
Stella Radeva (pictured), UK Video Journalist, was a fan of Dua Lipa’s Diet Coke concoction
UK Video Journalist Stella mixed her drink together, adding the pickles and jalapenos, along with the pickle juice and the jalapeno juice, to her Diet Coke.
Bringing the glass to her nose and cautiously taking a sniff, her first reaction was: ‘It smells suspicious.’
Yet, taking another sip, Stella believed the drink was one she could get on board with.
‘That’s actually so nice,’ she reflected, before describing it as ‘a very fresh Eastern European drink.’
Stella’s final verdict: ‘I actually love it.’
‘It’s like gone-off ketchup’
Tom Cotterill, Senior News Reporter
Yet Senior Reporter Tom Cotterill (pictured) described it as ‘horrific’
Senior Reporter Tom’s face, having mixed his pickle and jalapeno-infused Diet Coke together, gave the game away.
Having had a sniff and taken a sip, he was visibly disturbed and quickly identified the culprit: ‘It’s the pickle, it’s the pickle juice in there.’
Yet, committed to the taste test, Tom took another sip, eventually describing the drink as ‘punchy’.
Unable to say exactly what it tasted like, Tom likened it to ‘gone off ketchup’.
Tom’s final verdict: ‘No that’s not for me. No, sorry, that’s horrific.’
‘It’s still better than Pepsi’
Scott Coomber, Deputy Editor
Deputy Editor Scott Coomber (pictured) likened the drink to ‘a really horrible curry’
MailOnline Deputy Editor Scott Coomber also tried Dua Lipa’s Diet Coke infusion, first noting its strong taste.
Notably shocked by what he had just tasted, Scott commented: ‘Ah god, that’s not going away – that’s staying there for the rest of the afternoon.’
Like Tom, Scott persevered, but, having taken another sip, he remained unconvinced – if not completely disgusted.
Shaking his head, he compared the drink to ‘a really horrible curry’.
There was, however, a saving grace.
Having put down his drink for the final time, Scott added: ‘It’s still better than Pepsi, I’ll give it that.’
‘It tastes good’
Gabriella Cassandro, Assistant Video Editor
Gabriella Cassandro (pictured), former Assistant Video Editor, couldn’t taste the difference between Dua’s recipe and a normal Diet Coke
Gabriella, Assistant Video Editor, diligently mixed her drink together, adding all the components and giving it a stir before taking a sip.
Having lovingly prepared it, even she was surprised when she couldn’t perceive anything different.
‘I don’t really taste anything different,’ Gabriella laughed.
Taking another sip, she acknowledged: ‘It tastes good… it just tastes like a normal Diet Coke to me.’
Stressing that she wasn’t ‘taking the p***, Gabriella concluded: ‘It tastes good.’
‘It’s doing something a bit suspect to my stomach’
Jon Brady, Senior News Reporter
UK Senior News Reporter Jon Brady (pictured) was extremely dubious about the drink, believing it may have done something ‘suspect’ to his stomach
Jon, Senior News Reporter, added a large measure of pickle juice to his Diet Coke, along with jalapeno juice and the pickles and jalapenos.
Having taken a swig, Jon surprised himself by wanting to have another sip.
But despite valiantly giving it another chance, he was not sold on Dua’s bold recipe.
Rather, conscious that it was perhaps ‘doing something a bit suspect’ to his stomach, Jon dared not finish his drink.
Still, even though he didn’t care for Dua’s Diet Coke infusion, Jon was keen to understand it.
Appealing to the popstar, he said: ‘Dua Lipa, if you’re out there or if you’re watching this, I do have some questions about where this came from.’
