AURORA, Ill. — An Aurora man who sexually assaulted a victim after providing them drugs in 2022 will spend more than a decade in prison.

42-year-old Ricardo Lemos, an Aurora resident who was found guilty of criminal sexual assault in October of 2024, has been handed a 13-year prison sentence, Kane County’s State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser announced Thursday.

Prosecutors said in July of 2022, Lemos provided cocaine to a victim, who was someone he knew at the time, before sexually assaulting them. Because of the drugs, the victim was not able to consent to sexual activity.

Alongside his sentence, in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act, Lemos will also have to register for life as a sexual offender.

Lemos is required to serve at least 85% of his sentence and will receive credit for 535 days served in the Kane County jail.

“This sentence represents justice for the victim and holds Mr. Lemos accountable for his reprehensible actions,” Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers said.

In addition to the sentence on the sexual assault conviction, Lemos was also sentenced to 18 months in prison for an unrelated felony offense of criminal trespass to a residence. The sentence will be served consecutively to his 13-year sentence.
