Rohit Sharma’s poor run of form during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy continued as the India captain failed to impress with the bat during Day 4 of the Gabba Test. Rohit was dismissed once again by Pat Cummins as he edged one straight to Alex Carey for 10 off 27 balls in what was a timid and unconvincing time in the middle.
Rohit had returned to the Indian team lineup in Adelaide and he decided to give his opener’s spot and return to No.6 after a gap of 6 years. It was a horrid time for the Indian captain in Adelaide as he could score 3 off 23 balls in the first innings and followed it up with 9 off 26. The Indian captain would, however, continue in the middle order and come in at a time when his side was in all sorts of trouble.
AUS vs IND, Gabba Test Day 4 Live Updates
Rohit arrived at the crease when India were 44 for 4 on Day 3 and had lost Rishabh Pant. However, the rain delays meant that Rohit didn’t get much time to get some rhythm going on Monday. It took the Indian captain 10 balls to get off the mark on Day 4.
Rohit would get an elegant shot to get a boundary off Cummins and had luck going his way when he found an inside edge off Starc and the ball just went past the stumps. However, the Aussie bowlers, especially Cummins, continued to trouble Rohit. The Indian captain was unsettled by a short ball in the 24th over by Cummins and the next delivery would deliver the wicket for Aussie skipper.
This certainly created some mixed reactions amongst the Indian cricket team fans. While some were left heartbroken by Rohit’s dismissal, others criticised the Indian captain for his performance.
This has continued Rohit’s dismal form in 2024 as he has scored 607 runs so far in 24 innings at an average of 26.39.
