Star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has set his eyes on winning more trophies for the country after India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph. The Men in Blue won their third Champions Trophy title after beating New Zealand by four wickets in the final in Dubai.
Pandya played a key role in India’s victory with his crucial contributions with both bat and ball. He scored 99 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 106.45. Apart from that, he also scalped four wickets in five innings at an average of 35.75 and an economy of 5.83.
Following India’s win, the all-rounder said that his goal has always been winning championships for the nation and mentioned his desire to win 5-6 more titles.
“For me, it has always been about winning as many championships as I can. I did say when we won in 2024 that this is not done, I still need 5-6 more trophies there. I am very happy that one more is added,” Pandya was quoted as saying by the ICC.
Furthermore, Pandya recalled India’s loss in the 2017 Champions Trophy final against Pakistan and mentioned how he couldn’t take his team over the line back then.
“2017, the work was left. You know I could not finish the job back then. And I am very, very glad that tonight is the night where I can say that you know what, I am a Champions Trophy winner as well. So, sounds good I think,” he added.
Pandya’s best batting performance of the tournament came against New Zealand during Group stage as his innings of 45 (45) helped India reach a decent score of 249/9 in their allotted 50 overs. On the other hand, his best bowling performance came against Pakistan as he registered figures of 2/31 (8 overs) which included crucial wickets of Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel.
Earlier, the all-rounder also played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup 2204 triumph in the West Indies by successfully defending 15 runs in the final against South Africa.
