DENVER (KDVR) — A UK judge said Monday that Kimberlee Singler, the mother accused of killing her two children in Colorado Springs in December 2023, will not know if she will be extradited to the U.S. until the end of January.

Singler is suspected of killing her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son, as well as attempting to kill her 11-year-old daughter on Dec. 19, 2023. Police were called to the property for a reported burglary and found the two children’s bodies. Singler and the 11-year-old girl were also found at the scene and treated for their injuries.

Then Singler went missing. Police said there was no evidence of a burglary at the home. She was last seen in Colorado Springs on Dec. 24, 2023, and then was arrested in the United Kingdom on Dec. 30, 2023, according to police.

The 11-year-old girl told prosecutors in the UK that her mother said that “God made her do it,” according to the Associated Press. Singler’s 11-year-old daughter, who survived, reportedly begged for her life as Singler slashed her neck with a knife. The details came to light during the Colorado Springs woman’s extradition hearing, which began in Westminster Magistrates’ Court in September.

Her attorney, Edward Fitzgerald, is arguing that Singler should not be extradited to the U.S. because if she’s convicted of first-degree murder in Colorado, she would face life in prison without the possibility of parole. Across the pond, that sentence would violate European human rights laws, according to Fitzgerald.

The judge is expected to decide on Singler’s extradition on Jan. 24, 2025. If the judge rules in favor of extradition, the case is expected to be appealed to the high court.

“We’ve argued the case today and the judgment is going to be given in January, so we look forward to hearing what the judge says,” Fitzgerald told reporters after the hearing on Monday did not result in a ruling.
