Virat Kohli urges fans to join organ donation initiative during Ahmedabad ODI

Veteran batter Virat Kohli urged fans to join the organ donation initiative on Wednesday, February 12 during the third ODI between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) took a major step towards raising awareness about organ donation through the ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives’ initiative.

This initiative aims to inspire cricket fans to pledge their support for donating organs, putting forth the importance of a single decision which could impact lives. With millions watching, the initiative hopes to encourage individuals to pledge for organ donation, ultimately saving millions of lives in the future. Jay Shah, the ICC chairman, also dropped a message, asking fans to take part in the organ donation initiative.

“On the occasion of the 3rd ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad on February 12th, we are proud to launch an awareness initiative – ‘Donate Organs, Save Lives.’ Sport has the power to inspire, unite, and create lasting impact beyond the field. Through this initiative, we urge everyone to take a step towards giving the greatest gift of all – the gift of life. One pledge, one decision, can save many lives. Let’s come together and make a difference!” Shah said.

Virat Kohli falls cheaply in Cuttack ODI

Kohli missed the first ODI at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur due to an injury to his right knee. But he recovered in time and replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second ODI on Sunday at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. He scored five runs off eight balls before Adil Rashid accounted for his wicket.

Rashid became only the fifth bowler after Tim Southee (11), Josh Hazlewood (11), Moeen Ali (10) and James Anderson (10) to dismiss Kohli 10 or more times in international cricket. Kohli is looking to return to form before the Champions Trophy, to be held from February 19.
