AUSTIN (KXAN) — Developers broke ground on Round Rock’s newest mixed-use high rise development called The District.
The District is located at Greenlawn Boulevard and West Pflugerville Parkway. The development is “expected to create 5,000 jobs and generate hundreds of millions of dollars for the local economy,” according to a news release from Mark IV Capital.
Although it is not immediately clear how high the development gets, the president of the company in charge of it said the major growth Williamson County has seen is a major reason the development is one step closer to completion.
“The communities in Williamson County, Round Rock being one of them, have really grown up over the last couple of years. That’s given us the confidence to increase our commitment for what we’re planning to do here at the district,” President of Mark IV Capital Justin Basie told KXAN.
Guests who attended the groundbreaking enjoyed live music, refreshment and even got to experience a 360-degree photo booth that placed them in a rendering of the development, the release said.
Round Rock officials told KXAN while it has some taller offices, hotels and multifamily places, this is the first development where they will all exist together.
