(KRON) – A Manteca man has been arrested after shooting at a victim on Interstate 80, according to the California Highway Patrol Golden Gate Division.

Around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Solano County CHP officers responded to westbound I-80 near Milk Farm Road due to the report of a freeway shooting. The victim contacted the authorities to inform police that they were shot at. The victim also provided a description of the suspect and their vehicle.

Police said a short while later the Vacaville Police Department officers found the suspect in Vacaville.

The shooter was identified as 45-year-old Manteca resident Robert Christian Small. When arresting Small, officers found a loaded ghost gun with a threaded barrel on him.

“Violence on our roadways is unacceptable and puts innocent lives at risk. The CHP is committed to keeping our roads safe, and we will not tolerate reckless or violent behavior,” said CHP Golden Gate Division Chief Don Goodbrand.

Small was booked into the Solano County Jail for suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle, and illegal possession of an unregistered firearm and assault weapon.
