After a car crash early Thursday morning in Burlington, police say two people and a small dog have died.

Halton police say that just before 1 a.m. officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Guelph Line and Lowville Park Road in the Burlington.

They say a silver Mitsubishi sedan driven by a 47-year-old man from Hamilton was heading north on Guelph Line, past Britannia Road when the car “failed to negotiate the left turn” and slid off the road before hitting a retaining wall. The driver was taken to hospital “with serious injuries and pronounced deceased.”

Police also said that a passenger, a 41-year-old woman also from Hamilton and a small dog, “were both pronounced deceased on scene.”

Police say the Halton Regional Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating.

They are asking any witnesses who have dash camera video of the incident contact them at 905-825-4747 ext. 5065.
