A section of Highway 17 in northwestern Ontario was closed Sunday due to what police said was a serious motor vehicle collision.
Ontario 511 showed all lanes of the section of highway that runs between Dryden and Highway 71 were closed Sunday morning.
That section of the highway remained closed late Sunday afternoon.
In a Facebook post, OPP said the highway will remain closed for an “undetermined” amount of time as the scene is processed, and included a photo of three damaged transport trucks blocking the highway.
In an updated post later Sunday, OPP advised travelers to plan an alternate route and check for updates before leaving.
“Stay safe, and our thoughts are with those affected by the collision,” the post states.
OPP representatives could not be reached for comment on Sunday, and no further details have yet been provided.
