IPL 2025: ‘Mature’ Karun Nair eager to grab opportunities in second DC stint

Karun Nair has said that he is eager to grab the opportunities that will come his way during his second stint with Delhi Capitals during the IPL 2025 campaign. Karun spent 2 seasons with the then-Delhi Daredevils in 2016 and 2017 and even captained the franchise in 3 matches.

In 2016, Karun scored 357 runs in 14 matches and followed it up with 281 in the 2017 campaign. The 33-year-old comes to the IPL on the back of some top performances on the domestic circuit for Vidarbha and is ready for the start of the new season.

Speaking to India Today in an exclusive interaction, Karun said he has had great memories with the Delhi franchise and is looking forward to making new ones with DC. The 33-year-old said he is coming back as a more mature player and will aim to bring that into the IPL this season.

“I always had tremendous and great memories. Looking forward to making new memories this time. I’m coming back a much more mature player than I was back then and understanding my game a lot more. So, I will try to bring that into the IPL now and taking one game at a time and hopefully, I get some opportunities and can grab those opportunities,” said Karun.

What will be Karun’s role this season?

When asked about his role with the team, Karun said it would be premature to talk about it as he feels DC have a great squad with everyone in good touch.

“I think for myself, it is too premature to say what role I’ll be playing and, you know, but we’ve built a great squad this time and now everyone looks in great touch and looking forward to getting to know everyone a lot better and playing alongside them. I’m really excited to share the dressing room with a lot of these guys,” said Karun.

DC will start their campaign in Vizag against Lucknow Super Giants and Rishabh Pant on March 24.
