Moncton apartment fire sends one person to hospital | CBC News


A fire in a downtown Moncton apartment building on Saturday evening sent one person to hospital and displaced several residents.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens said firefighters received a call shortly after 6:30 p.m. to 136 Cornhill Street, near the intersection with St. George Street.

Crews arrived to find a fire on the eighth floor of the 10-storey building. Firefighters contained the fire to a single unit and rescued a tenant.

Bruens said 19 residents have been displaced and are receiving help from the Red Cross.

The fire is under investigation, he said.
