Nine people taken to hospital after two buses collide along Upper Thomson Road

In response to CNA’s queries, Tower Transit said its bus service 980 collided with an SBS Transit bus and a bollard at a bus stop along Upper Thomson Road at about 12.30pm on Sunday.

SBS bus service 166 was the other affected bus in the incident. SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu said that the bus was “stationary at a bus stop along Upper Thomson Road, when it was rear-ended by another bus”.

The bus captain and six passengers bus were hurt and taken conscious to hospital, said Mrs Wu.

“Our team was at the hospital to extend our care and support to them and to render assistance as best we can.

“We will continue to stay in touch during their recovery and do wish them a speedy recovery,” she added.

Tower Transit said there were 20 passengers on board its bus at the time. Two of them were taken to hospital.

The remaining passengers alighted and boarded another bus to continue their journey, the company said, adding that it has suspended the bus captain pending a full investigation.

Tower Transit also apologised to the passengers on both buses who were injured and inconvenienced by the accident.

“We are reaching out to our injured passengers and their families to provide assistance.

“We are also working with SBST (SBS Transit) to assist their injured passengers,” Tower Transit said.
