Major structure fire breaks out in downtown Orillia | CBC News

Officials are asking residents in Orillia to avoid the city’s downtown area as firefighters battle a major structure fire.

The fire broke out early Tuesday morning at the corner of Mississaga Street and Peter Street in a building that houses several businesses and residential apartments, says a news release from the City of Orillia.

No injuries have been reported at this time, the city said.

The city has brought in buses to provide temporary shelter to those displaced by the fire.

The block surrounding the intersection is closed down, and power has been turned off in the area.

Residents living near the building are advised to stay inside with their windows closed.
