Ewan Methven has pleaded guilty to murdering Phoenix Spencer-Horn
A postman has admitted murdering his partner before cutting her head off and attempting to dismember her body.
Ewan Methven, 27, pleaded guilty to the murder of Phoenix Spencer-Horn, 21, at her home in East Kilbride.
Methven stabbed Ms Spencer-Horn 20 times with three knives and strangled her in the sickening attack at around midnight of November 16 2024, GlasgowLive reports.

After murdering Ms Spencer-Horn, Methven then tried to cover up her death by dismembering her body.
In a sick attempt to conceal to avoid “arrest and prosecution” Methven then lied to her mother Alison Spencer, telling her in texts that her daughter was “alive and well”.
Ms Spencer-Horn’s body would not be discovered until November 18.
In the two days before that the court heard that Methven drove her car, scrolled through her phone, searched for pornography on the internet, and tried to buy cocaine.
Earlier in evening of November 16 the couple had ordered a takeaway to the house they shared at around 8pm.
Glasgow’s High Court heard that Methven “did not appear to be drunk or under the influence by the delivery driver”, but in a subsequent 999 call on November 18 he claimed that the murder happened while he had been in a psychotic episode that had been brought on by cocaine.
Prosecutor Christopher McKenna said: “Late on Saturday November 16, he strangled her and stabbed her. He dialled 999 but not until November 18.
“Her mutilated and decapitated body was discovered only on November 18.”
Prior to the attack, Methven had complained that her shifts as a waitress had made him feel “lonely”.
Mr McKenna said: “The police recovered texts between the accused and Phoenix, he complained of feeling lonely because of the hours she worked and he apologised.”
Methven and Ms Spencer-Horn were said to have been in a relationship for around two years after meeting at a family party.
Appearing in the dock at Glasgow High Court, Methven pleaded guilty to murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
Detective Chief Inspector Susie Cairns said: “My thoughts remain with Phoenix’s family and friends as they continue to try to come to terms with what happened.
“Methven now faces the consequences of his actions.
“Violence such as this is never acceptable in our communities, and we will work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
A sentencing hearing will be held next month.
