‘So unfair’ – BBC Gladiator fans slam ‘stupid’ game rule and demand change

This was due to the FA Cup match between Birmingham City and Newcastle United being shown instead.

Tonight, the contenders trying to beat the Gladiators were Joe from Scarborough who took on Junior from Birmingham, and Stacey from South Lanarkshire who competed against Poppy from East Yorkshire.

However, moments into the BBC show, fans took to X, formerly Twitter to demand a “change” to the game Unleash next series, as some slammed a “stupid” and “unfair” rule.

Unleash sees the contenders chased around a track by a Gladiator as they bash through a foam wall before climbing up a set of stairs, one step at a time (according to the rules set out by the referees).

But many don’t agree with the “one step at a time” rule.

Someone posted: “#Gladiators the rules on the stairs are stupid, there is no way the contender can win on Unleash unless the gladiator falls.”

Another agreed: “I was saying the same thing. Incredibly impractical while someone is chasing you.”

A third person put: “Agreed – too much in the gladiators favour – either let them climb how they want, or make it a ramp.”

This account wrote: “#Gladiators You’ve got NO CHANCE of getting away from the Gladiators going one step at a time!”

This fan put: “The stairs in Unleash are so unfair! How is anyone going to make it up going one at a time?! #Gladiators.”

One viewer said: “I really hope they change the one step at the time rule for unleashed in the next series as it’s a really unfair rule #Gladiators.”

A tweet also read: “Unleash is such a pointless game and almost impossible to win. Who cares if they take two stairs at a time?! Really?! #Gladiators.”
