East Yorkshire pie company recognised at national awards

Dan’s Pies of Pocklington won a gold and two silver awards at the British Pie Awards.

The cheese and onion pie won the gold award, while the chicken and chestnut mushroom pie and steak pie won silver.

Dr Matthew O’Callaghan, chairman of the British Pie Awards, said: “I’m so pleased that Dan’s Pies are amongst the award winners.

“The judges were very complimentary about the pie which is why it won an award.”

The company, which has been making pies for more than five years, said it was a “big achievement” to have done better than last year.

The pies can be bought online or at various markets across East and North Yorkshire.
