1. Hogans, Victoria Road

A true Darlington landmark, Hogans was once the heart of the local social scene. Formerly known as the Park Hotel, it was a go-to spot for both older patrons and younger crowds looking for a night out. The venue was eventually left derelict before being demolished to make way for Darlington’s station redevelopment.

2. Bondgate Tavern

A staple in the town’s pub scene, Bondgate Tavern was forced to close in 2022 due to rising costs and declining footfall. Known for its friendly atmosphere and well-poured pints, its sudden closure left a void in the community.

3. The Royal Oak

A once-thriving local pub, The Royal Oak closed its doors in 2008 before being demolished.

Before its demolition, it even served as a training ground for the fire brigade. Many still remember it as a classic town pub with a welcoming crowd.

4. The Plastered Parrot

An iconic venue with multiple names over the years—including Zhivagos, Oscar’s, and Cactus Jack’s—the Plastered Parrot was a firm favourite for nightlife lovers.

After falling victim to a fire in 2020, the venue was left vacant before being demolished in 2021.

5. Route 66

Renowned for its dancefloor and late-night energy, Route 66 was a must-visit venue in Darlington.

It was one of the few licensed late-night bars in the town and was well-known for its unique décor and party atmosphere.

6. Inside Out

Situated on Beaumont Street, Inside Out was a popular clubbing destination for over a decade.

However, it faced licensing issues and concerns over crime, eventually closing down in 2020, marking the end of an era for Darlington’s nightlife.

7. The Coachman Hotel

Built in the late 19th century, The Coachman Hotel was a grand Victorian railway hotel near Darlington station.

It closed in 2005 but remains fondly remembered by many as a classic spot for a pint and good conversation.
