Variety shop Typo is known for its selection of homeware products, stationery, gifting and tech accessories.
But the Australian brand’s store on the third level of Westquay permanently closed down without warning last Wednesday.
The Echo understands that some staff at the shop, which was positioned opposite Lego, were left surprised by the closure.
Westquay confirmed to the Echo that the shop has now shut down.
A spokesperson for the shopping centre said: “We look forward to providing an update on the exciting plans we have for the space.”

Typo’s shopfront, which previously featured the shop’s name in front of a white checked background, an illuminated sign and a display full of typewriters, has now been replaced by a white box.
A keypad-locked door now prevents the public from being able to see into the shop, where contractors were previously spotted working behind the shutters.
The Southampton shop, which opened in 2019, is no longer listed on the “store locator” map on Typo’s website, with Basingstoke being the closest outlet 28 miles away.
Typo has been contacted for comment.
