Lancashire Police,and North West Ambulance Service are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene to assist with traffic management.
Due to the nature of the incident the road is expected to remain closed throughout the night.
Diversion Route
‘Road users are advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol on road signs’.
Exit M6 junction 33 and at the roundabout take the second exit to Lancaster A6.
Follow the A6 through Galgate and past Lancaster University.
Follow A6 through Scotforth, at Infirmary roundabout take second exit to City Centre A6.
Follow one-way system through city centre staying in right hand lane.
At Sainsbury’s traffic signals, follow Kirkby Lonsdale A683 (M6), keeping in right hand lane. After going through a further 3 sets of signals, move into left hand lane still following Kirkby Lonsdale A683 (M6).
Continue along A683 Caton Road, at M6 J34 traffic signals turn left onto slip road to rejoin M6 at J34.
The #M6 #Lancashire is CLOSED northbound between J33 #Galgate and J34 #Lancaster.
This is due to a Police led incident.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “We need to inform you that the M6 from junctions 33-34 is closed on both carriageways due to a traffic collision. This closure is likely to last for some time, so please avoid the area and find an alternative route.”
