Parklife is set to take place at Heaton Park, Manchester, on June 14 and 15 as revellers flock to see headliners 50 Cent, Charlie XCX and Jorja Smith.

While the weather is set to remain mild this week the Met Office has warned of “torrential downpours, strong winds and thunderstorms” towards the end of the week.

The forecaster said weather warnings could be issued with a more accurate forecast towards the end of the week.

It has confirmed that Saturday will be warm, humid and “likely to be unsettled”. Highs of 19°C and lows of 13°C have been predicted with wind gusts of 28mph.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “As all of the above points out it will be turning increasingly warm and humid as we go through this week, and by the end of the week. During the second half of the week, the jet stream moves to the north of the UK allowing warm air to be drawn up across the UK from Iberia.

“While there will be plenty of dry and fine weather, the warm air is expected to trigger thunderstorms and heavy downpours, both on Wednesday night into Thursday and again later on Friday into Saturday.

“While some areas will see torrential downpours and strong winds associated with the thunderstorms on Saturday and weather warnings may well be issued as the details become clearer, it is not possible to say at this stage if [Greater Manchester] will be affected by these conditions.

“While Saturday will be warm and humid in your area it is likely to be an unsettled day.”

On Saturday, gates will open at 12pm and close at 11pm, with last entry at 5pm.

Last entry is “strictly” at 5pm on both days so make sure you arrive in plenty of time, and the festival is set to end by 11pm each night.

Remember that you must be 17-years-old or over to attend (and need to be with a responsible adult if under 18) so bringing ID along is always a good idea.

Other artists set to perform include Peggy Gou, Pawsa, Bicep (presenting the Chroma AV DJ set), Overmono, Confidence Man, Lola Young, Hybrid Minds, Rudimental, Chris Stussy, Marc Rebillet, Steve Angello, and Ewan McVicar.

There’s also Mochakk, Skream & Benga, Flo, Hedex, Bou, Andy C, Armand Van Helden, Josh Baker, Ki/Ki, Dj Heartstring, Joy Orbison, Interplanetary Criminal, Girls Don’t Sync, Max Dean, Rossi., Partiboi69, Mau P, Antony Szmierek, and Alex Farell.

There will be other big events taking place across Greater Manchester too, with Jeff Dunham at the Co-op Live on Saturday, June 14, Chris Brown at the Co-op Live and Soccer Aid at Old Trafford both taking place on Sunday, June 15, meaning that roads and public transport will be busier than usual.
