Highfield Lane and Highfield Avenue are set to be hit by two-way traffic lights this week as Southampton City Council’s highways team undertakes works on the busy main road.
The works are set to take place from Monday to Friday, and the council is warning motorists that delays through the Highfield area are likely.

As part of the works, the road will be fully closed in both directions through Tuesday night, from 8pm until 6am on Wednesday morning.
A diversion route is in place which takes drivers up Portswood Road, turning left onto Langhorn Road and joining Bassett Avenue.
Drivers can then rejoin Highfield Avenue.
