British Transport Police (BTP) detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the young girl was allegedly assaulted on a ScotRail service from Glasgow to Newton.
Officers revealed the incident took place at around 11pm on Thursday, January 2.
During it, a man, who was on board the 10.42pm service from Glasgow Central to Newton, allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage girl.
A man has since been arrested. Now, cops are urging anyone with information on the incident to get in touch.

A spokesperson for the BTP said: “Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 745 of January 2.
“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
