Nando’s reopens Durham store after refurbishment – here’s what’s new

Known for its peri-peri chicken, the chain’s Durham location had been closed for six weeks.

The restaurant on Walkergate now has a new look complete with new equipment, including a bottomless iced tea machine.

A new mezzanine floor has also been added, seating around 25 people.

June Russell, general manager of Nando’s Durham, said: “I’m so excited to be reopening our doors and welcoming fans, old and new, into our new restaurant.

“It looks amazing. With a fresh new look and state-of-the-art equipment, we are ready to get grilling for everyone again, and to also continue all our community work.”

The restaurant will continue its “No Chuckin’ Our Chicken” food donation programme, which sees leftover food donated to local charities, community groups, food banks, and soup kitchens.

Nando’s Durham is partnered with Chester-le-Street community café, ReFuse, and donates more than 1,200 meals a year to the charity.

Ms Russell added: “No Chuckin’ Our Chicken food donation programme is so important to us and I know that we are going to smash our donation records this year.”
