More than 35,000 students in Ontario from Grades 7 to 12 will have the opportunity to explore more than 140 skilled trades through a series of career fairs that is again making the rounds of the province.
Level Up! is a series of dynamic, multi-day career fairs that bring together the best in skilled trades professionals across industry organizations, post-secondary institutions, businesses, associations and more.
This year, it runs from Sept. 12 to Nov. 28.
A news release says students have the opportunity to learn about the trades through interactive exhibitions and hands-on activities, while hearing directly from tradespeople and local employers about career opportunities.
This year, it will stop in 15 communities, having expanded by seven locations.
Northern Ontario stops will include a visit to the cities of Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, as well as new stops in North Bay and South Porcupine.
The fairs are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to promote skilled trades and to address the growing demand for workers across Ontario.
In a news release, Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Skills Training and Development also says the program recognizes the importance of engaging students at a young age and showing them the diverse opportunities available in the skilled trades.
