FOOTBALL is known as the beautiful game.
And managers are often praised for playing ‘attractive football’.
But there’s another saying – ‘beauty is in the eyes of the beholder’ – though one research group has tried to make it more scientific…. and rated the SPFL in a good looks league table.
In the past we’ve had players like Matt O’Riley and Billy Gilmour strut their stuff on the catwalk as models.
But now there’s a league table rating the ‘attractiveness’ of the top flight managers.
Every boss in the Premiership has had their face analysed by AI programme Vidnoz – which uses an ancient Greek philosophy and facial recognition technology to form a score out of 100.

It can also test looks against other attributes including confidence, approachability and trustworthiness.
But one boss is rated more beautiful than the others and has topped the charts with 99 points out of 100.
However there’s an upside down look to the table too as two of the league’s lookers are currently struggling at the foot of the Premiership.
Ross County’s Don Cowie rates high with 98 points out of 100.
That’s enough to push relegation rival Simo Valakari of St Johnstone into third place in the beauty stakes.
They’re also ranked 71 out of 100 for approachability, based on their portraits.
But there’s a familiar look at the very top of the table.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been labelled the league’s most beautiful by Gambling.com and Vidnoz.
The program’s algorithm analysed each manager’s stock photo from their club website and applied it to the Golden Ratio beauty formula, which was first developed by the ancient Greeks, before assigning them an ‘Attractiveness Score’.
And despite a positive point against Olympiacos in the Europa League earlier this season there’s a Greek tragedy for Rangers boss Philippe Clement.
He’s ranked 11th out of 12 top flight bosses – joint bottom of the beauty stakes along with Hearts boss Neil Critchley.
Stephen Frail is a late entrant to the competition as Stuart Kettlewell’s temporary replacement at Motherwell, and he tops the duo too, joint ninth with Hibs boss David Gray, and above Tony Docherty of Dundee.
The analysis used each boss’ portrait image either from their club website – or their online profile at Transfermarkt.
The table, according to Vidnoz and Gambling.com reads…
- Brendan Rodgers – 99
- Don Cowie – 98
- Simo Valakari – 97
- Jimmy Thelin – 96
- Stephen Robinson – 94
- Jim Goodwin – 92
- Derek McInnes – 90
- David Gray – 89
- Stephen Frail – 89
- Tony Docherty – 88
- Philippe Clement – 86
- Neil Critchley – 86
