Legendary India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, recently revealed why Arjun Tendulkar stopped training under him. Arjun, son of legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, trained under Yograj in 2022. The southpaw went on to make his IPL debut the very next year and put up some notable performances in domestic cricket.
Recently, Yograj opened up on training Arjun and mentioned how he scored a century after training under him for just 12 days. However, he revealed that people feared that Arjun’s name would get stuck with him.
“Sachin’s son. He comes here for 12 days and scores a hundred. When he scored a hundred on debut and then came back to IPL, people feared that his (Arjun) name will get stuck with him (Yograj). Are you understanding my point?,” Yograj said on ‘Unfiltered by Samdish’.
Furthermore, Yograj disclosed that he even told Yuvraj to call Sachin and let Arjun train under him for a year.
“People are very afraid of name-sticking. I told Yuvi (Yuvraj) to call Sachin and ask him to give me Arjun for a year. See what happens after that,” he added.
Meanwhile, Arjun wasn’t in the best of forms in the recent domestic season as he’s scored 40 runs from two innings in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. With the ball, he’s scalped four wickets from three matches.
Arjun Tendulkar’s performance in recent domestic season
Earlier, in the Ranji Trophy, he scored 51 runs from three innings at an average of 17. However, he had good time with the ball, picking 16 wickets from four matches at an average of 18.18 with one five wicket haul. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25, he accumulated just 21 runs from two matches and picked one wicket.
Earlier, he also didn’t have a memorable season in the IPL 2024 as he played just one game and leaked 22 runs at an economy of 9.42. Despite his below par performances so far, Arjun was once again picked up by Mumbai Indians (MI) at the IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League 2025) mega auction at his base price of Rs 30 Lakh and is all set to feature in Mumbai’s squad for the fourth straight season.
