Why is it taking so long to select a new Archbishop?


Last week in Rome we saw the Catholic church select a new pope in two days – just over two weeks after Pope Francis had died.

Yet the Church of England remains without a permanent leader more than six months on from Justin Welby’s resignation. And now delays in forming the committee to select the next Archbishop of Canterbury have cast further doubt on the process, amid accusations of skulduggery and talk of a schism.
